William Ball was born on 22 Jun 1920 in Liverpool, Lancashire to William Richard Ball and Nellie Hosker. He was employed as Railway Linesman’s Assistant (auto -signals) prior to enlisting. He married Mona Olive Grindley in 1942. William served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve as a Sergeant in WW2, service no. 971137 and died on 12 February 1943 in Cleveland, North Yorkshire, England. He was buried on 17 February 1943 in St. John’s Churchyard, Crossens, Southport.
