John Morris Slater was born on 19 July 1922 in Fylde, Lancashire to Frederick Slater and Mary Maud Morris. He was employed by Collings and Kershaw Dentists prior to enlisting. John served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve as a Pilot Officer Class in WW2, service no. 175566 and died on 11 May 1944 in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, England. He was buried on 16 May 1944 in St. Cuthbert’s Churchyard, Churchtown, Southport.
