Richard Eric Hargreaves was born on 23 March 1901 in Bolton, Lancashire to Richard Longstaff Hargreaves and Elsie Whittle. He was previously a telephonist in the Royal Navy then a postman prior to enlisting in the Army and married Susan Frances Wilson in 1930. They had one son, Richard in 1931. Richard served in the Army as a Private in WW2, service no. 7260151 and died on 04 January 1945 in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. He was buried on 10 January 1945 in St. Cuthbert’s Churchyard, Churchtown, Southport.
